John McCarthy is a broadly and deeply experienced manager and developer of talent. He has both practiced and taught a range of skills including: behavior-based interviewing, coaching, emotional intelligence, career development and succession planning. John’s 35-year career spans a range of healthcare businesses including pharmaceuticals, diagnostic imaging, and medical devices. He has a demonstrated record of success in large, publicly-held companies as well as privately owned firms including Hollister, Nycomed Amersham, Syntex Laboratories, and Bristol-Myers. John has been a salesperson, sales trainer, first-line sales manager, and sales executive. He has parallel experience in marketing, from product manager to top marketing executive. As a general manager, he led several company divisions in achieving and surpassing financial goals. His extensive training and development background includes instructing a variety of selling, management, and leadership programs as well as designing and implementing development curricula for managers. He is a member of the American Society for Training & Development. John earned his BS in Psychology and English from St. Louis University and his MBA in Marketing at the University of Evansville in Evansville, Indiana.
